Jasbeer’s family hopes for miracle in serial killings

TAPAH: The family of Jasbeer Singh, 46, who is believed to have been one of the victims of a serial killing, is hoping for a miracle that he would be alive.

One of his nephews, Sukhvinderjit Singh, 19, when met at Jasbeer’s house in Kampung Sungai Lah, Chenderiang here, said: “We are looking forward to seeing him alive.”

The youth used to work with Jasbeer as a palm oil contractor cum land broker.

“The family is offering prayers at a temple in Ipoh to pray for his safe return,” he added.

“It had been a tough time for my aunt to bring up her four children since her husband went missing in August,” he added.

“We hope the police will come back to us with some good news.”

Earlier, Chenderiang assemblyman and state exco member Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon met the youngster to offer his condolences.

He said the state government would donate RM3,000 to the family.

“We hope the police investigation will reveal what had actually happened which led to this tragic incident,” he added.

A friend of the family said: “We searched for about a week after Jasbeer went missing. We went to a few places where he would go but it was a dead end ... he rarely eats or drinks at shops. The villagers gave up and left it to the police to investigate.

“We were shocked with the latest news,” he said referring to the front page story in theSun yesterday,” said the friend.

Tapah town has come into the spotlight since the murder case made front page news in the newspapers.

Meanwhile, Perak deputy CID chief ACP Fadzil Ahmat denied rumours that one of the two daughters in the family had tipped off police on the murders.

He also noted the girl brought to the scene was only a witness to assist police in their investigation.

She is believed to be the daughter of the main suspect.

He also declined to divulge information on the victims as DNA tests are not ready yet.
