Guan Eng to raise budget snub issue
GEORGE TOWN: Penang not getting any projects in Budget 2016 will be an issue to be raised by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng in Parliament.
Lim, who is Bagan MP, said the budget announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak did not include allocation for any projects for the state.
He said a light rail transit (LRT) system was promised for Penang three times but did not materialise.
He said he will not be the only one raising the matter as Tanjong MP Ng Wei Aik will be doing the same.
“What benefits Penang will benefit Malaysia, what is disadvantageous to Penang will be disadvantageous to Malaysia,” he told a press conference yesterday.
Lim also referred to a Sunday tweet by Najib who congratulated Tourism Malaysia after George Town was ranked fourth most charismatic city by Lonely Planet for 2016.
He said this was evidence the state and federal administrations working together could produce results which benefited all.
“The Tourism Ministry, led by Datuk Seri Nazri Abdul Aziz, has worked with the state on many projects and we hope this will continue,” he added. – by Aaron Ngui
