MAN, 93, FIT TO FACE AUSCHWITZ CHARGES

BERLIN: A 93-year-old man accused of being an accessory to murder at the Auschwitz concentration camp during World War II is medically fit to face trial in Germany, according to a doctor’s certificate released by a court on Monday. A German prosecutor’s office focusing on crimes related to the Nazi era had first sought to file charges against the unnamed man in February, but questions about his ability to stand trial forced a delay. The man is accused of being an accessory to at least 170,000 murders from January 1943 to June 1944 at the camp. – dpa
