Easy detox

-

CARMEN is an energetic, health savvy young woman. She lives a very healthy lifestyle, rests on time, avoids smoking and alcohol, and even avoids all forms of fast food. Recently she received a promotion at work, hence her workload and stress has increased steadily in accordance with her new role. This has taken a toll on her body; the beautiful complexion she once had has lost its radiance and she gets sick more often. A nutritionist friend has asked her to start a detox programme. But Carmen says: "I have no constipation problems and I take care of my health and diet very well, I have regular bowel movements, am I not detoxing enough? I don't think I need to detox further!"

Many of us share the same thought as Carmen, which is that a healthy diet and regular bowel movements are enough to keep us healthy. However, regular bowel movement does not equal detoxification. Bowel movement only removes waste from the colon. There are other areas which need toxins removed as well such as the liver, kidney and blood. Toxins produced by a high sugar diet cannot be removed by something as simple as going to the toilet. If we do not remove these toxins from our body, they will accumulate over time, preventing our organs from working efficiently, and causing side effects such as bad breath, bloating, wrinkles and pimples. come from the environment, the processed foods we eat which are filled with preservatives, foods high in sugar and calories, pesticides, make-up products which contain chemicals, radiation from electronic products such as our phones and computers, aerosol sprays and so on. To make matters worse, toxins can come from within us as well as stress and negative emotions and undigested food components in our intestines all result in oxidative stress which produces free radicals within our body.

All these toxins will start to accumulate and clog our organs and cells and are not removable by simple bowel movements. If not removed, they will reduce the efficiency and health of our organs which results in deteriotating health. Hence, going to the toilet performs a very minimal part in detoxing and is not enough to remove all the toxins from your body.
