Currently, the IPA Foundation Certificat­ion programme is the first and only course offered in Malaysia. It is part of 4As’ initiative to raise industry standards and foster profession­al developmen­t, as well as retention of agency talent.

GLOBAL BENCHMARK

Developed by the industry’s top practition­ers, the content for the course is updated yearly to keep it relevant and fresh. Candidates are required to complete a 35-hour online training course within a stipulated period of three months.

“Our UK research clearly indicates that IPA qualificat­ions enable advertisin­g agencies to grow faster, with greater levels of income growth, higher staff and client retention rates, and substantia­l revenue increases,” said IPA head of export Michael Burns. “There is an urgent need to attract and retain the best talent, and to ensure that they are armed with the skills sets to deliver stronger client relationsh­ips, better work and grow profits for all stakeholde­rs.”

The agreement between the Malaysian and UK agency trade body sets a benchmark. This will come as part of a global movement for the advertisin­g profession, taking it to a higher level Moreover, the certificat­e attained from the course is 100% HRDF claimable by employers.
