PTPTN to return deducted money

-

PETALING JAYA: Civil servants whose salaries were deducted at a maximum level to repay the National Higher Education Loan Fund (PTPTN) will have their money returned to them, said Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs).

Cuepacs president Datuk Azih Muda told theSun that Cuepacs had a meeting with PTPTN recently over the matter and that PTPTN promised to return the money.

“They promised to stick to the rate set in a schedule (which was agreed when the loan was made),” said Azih, adding that when a loan is given, an agreement is signed.

Azih said about 3,000 civil servants were affected by the deductions, which left some with a take-home pay of RM19 for the whole month.

Earlier, Azih had complained that the salary cut was unjustified and a burden to the workers.

“What can a person do with RM19 for a month?” he had asked.
