Thrice the joy
> First-time parents Melissa Seow and Vince Tan divulge about the process and ups and downs of raising triplets!
ON FRIDAY challenge would be telling each of their own children apart. For Seow and Tan, the task instantaneously presented itself because not only did the girls look like each other; they looked identical to all other newborns!
It wasn't until a month later that the first-time parents could distinguish between Marissa, Kimmie and Arianna from their facial features and cries. Tan revealed that the trio quickly grew to be unique in their own ways, and at only three years old, they have very distinctive personalities.
"Marissa strives to be independent and at the same time, she's constantly looking out for her sisters. Kimmie is nicknamed Talkative Tan as she loves to converse, while Arianna, although the youngest and tiniest, is a cili padi (bird's eye chilli, a metaphor for being feisty)," shared the 34year-old entrepreneur.
Telling them apart is one thing, but taking care of children is another matter altogether what more three at a time? Seow and Tan didn't discover any hacks, but their secret is a simple no-brainer: practice.
"We tried to be as organised as possible. When we first brought them home, we drafted a timetable to ensure that all three babies are timely fed and cleaned. When we got used to the routine, everything came together naturally without the timetable. We also had an army of help from the confinement lady, our parents and domestic helpers," Tan unveiled. that the most challenging part about parenting triplets is to simultaneously divide attention to each of them.
Nonetheless, they take comfort in the knowledge that the girls have each other to grow up and old with. And they're certainly not discounting the possibility of expanding their family.
Whether or not that day arrives, Seow and Tan are determined to help Marissa, Kimmie and Arianna believe that nothing is impossible.
"We hope that they will be able to happily pursue their passion, live life to the fullest, and contribute meaningfully to society," Seow added.
