Excellent plan by MPC
THE Malaysian Productivity Corporation (MPC) has launched a Team Excellence Convention that will run across the country. It is aimed at increasing the level of productivity in the work place.
At the recent closing ceremony for the central region convention held in Kuala Lumpur, International Trade and Industry (Miti) Deputy Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan said the initiative was established to focus on enhancing good working practices and reduce bureaucracy in the labour force, in both the public and private sectors.
In order for this Team Excellence approach to bear fruit, the fundamentals of the programme need to be managed and delivered in a systematic order. It also needs continuous monitoring to bring value into daily working practices and to achieve better results in carrying out one’s duties.
The programme is currently being introduced, and going through a five-series regional outreach tour covering the central, southern, northern, east coast and East Malaysia regions. Participating organisations of the programme have shared that they managed to save over RM200 million through the fundamentals they learned at the convention that stresses the importance of improving quality, innovation and productivity in all aspects of a business.
On a larger scale, the Team Excellence initiative, which is in line with the 11th Malaysian Plan, also helps contribute to a more secure and stable national economic structure.
The programme also recognises outstanding Productivity Champions as the driving forces of their own industries. This year, the MPC acknowledged over 25 of these “champions” across various industry sectors.
Once completed, the programme, through the convention, seeks to determine some of the best Team Excellence groups, having them represent their team at national level at the Annual Productivity and Innovation Exposition (APIC) 2016. The three-day affair will be held at Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC) from Oct 25 to 27, 2016.
