Formal recognition of MOOC

-

UNIVERSITI Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and OpenLearning recently signed an agreement to officially launch their partnership to create and offer Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) to UiTM students. The signing ceremony was held at UiTM’s campus in Shah Alam and was officiated by UiTM Vice Chancellor Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr Hassan Said.

The partnership between UiTM and OpenLearning is formal recognition of the existing MOOC collaboration between both entities, where UiTM educators have developed 16 MOOCs as part of their efforts to drive active learning and collaboration among students.

With this partnership, UiTM will continue to create more online courses, which will be available on OpenLearning’s platform www. openlearning.com

According to Adam Brimo, co-founder and CEO of OpenLearning, “This partnership between UiTM and OpenLearning is a testament to Malaysia’s position as a world leader in MOOCs and active learning in the formal higher education system.

“We are very proud to be a part of this partnership, and are looking to continue to drive online and free education for students from all backgrounds.”

All the courses are available for free, and are open for enrolment by students at UiTM and all public universities as well as members of the public.
