SONY Mobile Communications recently announced two additions to its new X series smartphones – the flagship Xperia XZ and premium Xperia X Compact – that feature new and improved camera technology.

Sony Mobile country director for Malaysia Andrew Cheong said: “The Xperia XZ and Xperia X Compact allow you to capture every moment as you see it – with blur-free images day or night, and with true-to-life colours – thanks to the new tripleimage-sensing technology.”

This technology maximises on Sony’s acclaimed Exmor RS image sensor by adding two assisting sensors to this mobile image sensor that already offers a blend of high quality image and autofocus (AF) speed combined with Predictive Hybrid AF to intelligently predict and also track subjects in motion for blur-free images.

The new sensors are the Laser AF sensor that provides the distance-sensing technology which captures perfect photos in challenging low-light conditions, and the RGBC-IR sensor with coloursensing technology that accurately adjusts the white balance based on the light source in the environment to give superb true-to-life colours.

The 23MP main camera is superfast in startup to give clear shots in 0.6 seconds, with also advanced features for those who want to enhance their shooting experience. Both the Xperia models bring significant advancements in image stabilisation, with Intelligent Active Mode to enable superb video recording. The five-axis stabilisation allows for capturing smoother videos even when walking or running. The XZ comes with a 13MP front camera for selfie and welfie as well as high quality recording in 4K. It is also water- and dust-resistant. The XZ’s stunning 5.2in glass display and metal back give it a premium feel while the Xperia X Compact’s 4.6in screen and loop surface design make it ideal to operate with just one hand. The fingerprint sensor power button on both devices is intuitively located on the side for ease of use to unlock in a single movement. They also feature new Battery Care, complemented by Qnovo adaptive charging, and USB Type C charger for fast charging. The Xperia XZ comes in with a dual SIM variant (hybrid SIM slot) while the X Compact is available in single SIM variant. The Xperia XZ retails at RM2,699 and is available in forest blue, mineral black and platinum colours; while the Xperia X Compact retails at RM1,999 and comes in a high-gloss finish in mist blue together with universe black and stylish white colours. Both devices are now on sale at all Sony Mobile Stores, Sony Centres and authorised dealers nationwide.
