Escalator ‘collapse’ shocks shoppers
KUALA LUMPUR: Shoppers at the Pandan Capital Mall in Pandan Indah were startled yesterday when the steps of a moving escalator broke up and collapsed.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported as there were no shoppers on the escalator when the incident occurred at about 12.45pm.
It is understood that the incident was caused by a technical malfunction on one of the escalators on the ground floor of the complex.
“Repair work was completed in less than half an hour,” a source told Bernama yesterday.
This is the second incident at the mall since July.
