Henderson, Lallana, went to strip club

-

ENGLAND’S night of shame following the win over Scotland was not just about Wayne Rooney. Liverpool pair Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana are also facing the wrath of the FA after breaching the governing body’s code of conduct by visiting a strip club on Saturday, November 5.

The Sun on Sunday claim that the pair went to a lap-dancing venue, For Your Eyes Only, in Bournemouth, on England’s south coast.

Caretaker boss Gareth Southgate had given his players the evening off but they were under orders to return by 11am on Sunday, November 6 ahead of an afternoon training session.

Henderson, who is teetotal, is said to have drunk only water and both he and Lallana trained normally and started in Tuesday’s friendly with Spain.

But their night out does nothing to ease the embarrassment of the FA after Rooney’s gatecrashing of a wedding party at the team hotel on the same evening.

England skipper Rooney, who ignored the pleas of Southgate for him to return to his room and carried on drinking, has already apologised. Now Henderson, his deputy who captained the side against Spain, will have to do likewise.

The FA have now banned players from spending the night away from the team hotel during international duty.

Former England coach Gary Neville criticised the manner in which the FA dealt with the affair on Sunday, tweeting: ‘We now have a situation where two good lads in Lallana and Henderson have to be forced to make an apology. Shocking handling of this.’

He added: ‘You have to trust them (players). If they are going to drink they will.’
