... as Klopp may need to buy

-

JURGEN KLOPP admits he may need to dip into the transfer market in January to bolster his Liverpool squad – but only if he needs to.

Liverpool suffered a big blow as news emerged of star man Philippe Coutinho being ruled out for around six weeks with ankle ligament damage.

The Reds sit one point behind leaders Chelsea with 12 games played, and they’ll be keen to strengthen in the New Year to ensure their title chances don’t slip away.

Reports suggest Liverpool are already thought to be chasing Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic following Coutinho’s injury.

Maybe a few young lads now take the chance because of injuries of other players, so then we don’t think about it anymore.

But Jurgen Klopp claims he has been thinking about the upcoming transfer window for some time and he’s also suggested some of the younger players could be ready to step up.

Asked if Coutinho’s injury might mean Liverpool choose to reinforce the squad in January, Klopp told the club’s website: “Actually I thought before about it, but it doesn’t mean that we do it.

“We have to think about it all the time to prepare the situation. We have already prepared the summer, that’s how it is.

“Of course, transfers will be done or not. If we have another few injuries or not, we will see.

“It’s not to make a transfer, it’s only if we think the team needs another player, the squad needs another player. Then I think we will do it. If not, then not.” – Express Newspapers
