Unveiling Rogue One
> This interquel is the first film in the Star Wars franchise that will not revolve around the main characters from the original films
Star Wars Star Wars Rogue One,
Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope and offers an opportunity to flesh out the backstory of significant characters and future standalone films, which will revolve around Han Solo (“This moves closer to a heist or Western type feel,” said Kennedy) and Boba Fett.
The spin-offs also mean that Lucasfilm can release Star Wars movies in-between last year’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, next year’s Star Wars: Episode VIII, and the sequel trilogy’s Episode IX closer in 2019. Meanwhile, both Disney and LucasFilm have unveiled a brand-new trailer – titled Trust – which offers up fresh clues as to what fans can expect of this space epic. The new trailer shows off a mix of previously-seen footage as well as a couple of new moments that makes it look as though Tudyk’s KS20 will steal the show and inject a bit of humour into the film.
Early ticket sales have already begun worldwide, with fans more than eager to be a part of the first film to not revolve around the main characters from the original Star Wars films.
Early box-office projections indicate that the film is on track for a huge opening.
However, the film isn’t expected to match the US$2.07 billion (RM9.2 billion) The Force Awakens pulled in worldwide.
While Disney CEO Bob Iger worked to lower expectations for the film back in September, it’s looking as though the film will still be enormously popular in cinemas worldwide. – Agencies
