PM: Don’t be fooled

> Opposition parties are dysfunctional and do not trust one another, says Najib

KUALA LUMPUR: The rakyat must not be fooled by the Opposition’s politics of illusion, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak.

He warned that making the wrong choice and voting for the Opposition could spell doom for the country, pointing that under the Barisan Nasional (BN), Malaysia has been moving forward. Najib said although the current government is not perfect, the Opposition only practises politics that incite hatred and confusion among the public.

“Yesterday, I showed a video of (PKR’s) Rafizi Ramli saying that inciting the public is the job of the Opposition.

“If we file a lawsuit against them, they will just apologise, or pay damages. But politically, the damage is done,” he said when opening the MyPPP annual general meeting here yesterday.

“The Opposition knows that if you cannot convince the people, just confuse them. This is what they do, in any issue, they will try to confuse you,” he added.

Najib said the rakyat should view all government efforts as something that is done for the future of the country, and must not condone politics of hate, confusion and incitement.

He said if the Opposition does not agree with the plans and direction underlined by BN, they should present an alternative plan for the people.

“When I went to China and brought RM143 billion in investment, they said I was selling away the country’s sovereignty. It doesn’t make sense.

“If you don’t agree with us, present your plan to the people. You don’t even have a plan, can’t even decide who should be prime minister.“They are in tatters, they are dysfunctional, they don’t trust one another, they don’t even like each other,” he said.

Najib added that BN had managed to stay together through the years because it runs the country based on principles, morality and their focus on delivering for the people.

Later at a press conference, MyPPP president Tan Sri M. Kayveas said he would accept BN’s decision on the number of seats the party would contest in the coming general election.

“Whether they give us a seat or not, we will accept the decision, in the spirit of BN. We are fighting for BN’s victory, not mine or the party,” he said.
