A Sthe education landscape transforms in tandem with the socio and economic challenges in this 21st century, much have been done to improve the education standards in the national stream.
The implementation of Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) and the teaching of Maths and Science in English under the Dual Language Programme (DLP) augurs well for the objectives of the Standard Curriculum Primary School (KSSR) and the Integrated Curriculum Secondary School (KSSM and KBSM).
At Sekolah Sri Bestari, many more micro initiatives have been carried out in the past two years to further supplement the positive changes taking place in the national stream. For example, Sri Bestari is the only private school of five selected pilot schools implementing Phase 2 of the Inquiry Based Science Education (IBSE) under the Academy of Sciences Malaysia.
IBSE is the teaching of science via inquiry and is an effective method in advocating science among the young and plays an integral part in developing HOTS abilities.
This, coupled with the teaching of Maths and Science in English further supports the option for students to sit for the University of New South Wales (UNSW) examination which is an addition to the national type exams.
With the setting up of the international school wing, an additional option for students to attempt the Cambridge check point exams and the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) would be critical in supplementing the already evolving national education system
This multi prong strategy would surely move student population towards exceptional results in the TIMSS (Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study) and PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) examination in the coming years.
At Sri Bestari national school, additional languages are made compulsory for all students in French, Mandarin and Japanese. Students enrolled for Mandarin have a choice to attempt the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) and Youth Chinese Test (YCT) Chinese proficiency tests as a form of external certification to gauge their proficiency. Works are in the pipeline to have French and Japanese language proficiency tests this year.
For academic year 2017, the school will launch a Centre of Sports Excellence where certain identified sports such as football, athletics, and cricket will see a professional training outfit leading the roll-out of the programmes.
