KUALA LUMPUR: The Agri­cul­ture and Agro-based In­dus­try Min­istry will in­crease the im­port quota of round cab­bage to en­sure ad­e­quate sup­ply and sta­bilise its prices in the lo­cal mar­ket. Its min­is­ter Datuk Seri Ah­mad Shabery Cheek said soar­ing prices of round cab­bage was due to in­creased de­mand ahead of the Chi­nese New Year cel­e­bra­tion. “The im­port quota for round cab­bage will be in­creased by an ad­di­tional 1,500 to 2,000 met­ric tonnes only for the Chi­nese New Year com­pared to 6,000 met­ric tonnes per month at present,” he said af­ter an in­spec­tion at the Kuala Lumpur whole­sale mar­ket here yes­ter­day. – Ber­nama
