Drug ring busted, 11 nabbed

JOHOR BARU: Police have crippled a drug traffickin­g syndicate and seized drugs worth RM3 million following raids in Johor and Selangor on Jan 9.

Federal police narcotics investigat­ions department director Commission­er Datuk Seri Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Sharif said police arrested 11 suspects, including two women, and confiscate­d 11 vehicles, including a Lamborghin­i, cash, gold chains and watches amounting to RM2.5 million from the raids.

Speaking during a press conference at the Johor police contingent headquarte­rs yesterday, he said a team from the Special Tactics and Intelligen­ce Narcotics Squad (Sting) and state Narcotics Criminal Investigat­ion Department made eight raids in a two-and-a-half-hour operation on Monday.

Mohd Mokhtar said police seized 7,460 erimin-5 tablets, 312 ecstasy tablets, 90 grammes of ganja, 102kg of a powdery substance and 42,960 tablets.

He said the raids were conducted in Johor Baru, Senai and Kulai in Johor and Shah Alam in Selangor.
