Roads in four Johor districts closed

-

JOHOR BARU: Floods have forced the closure of roads in four districts in Johor.

The districts involved are Segamat, Kluang, Pontian and Muar.

State Health and Environment Committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat said although Pontian was not affected by floods, its roads were still closed following the collapse of Jalan Kampung Sungai Pinggan bridge on Tuesday.

He said in a statement here yesterday that two schools – Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Felcra Bukit Kepong and Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kampung Tengah in Segamat – had also remained close.

In Kota Kinabalu, aid agencies have continued distributing food to flood victims in villages in the Pitas district, where supply was disrupted.

Sabah State Disaster Management Committee secretariat chief Col Mulliadi AlHamdi Ladin said the operation to channel aid by road to Kampung Ladap, Kampung Andap, Kampung Kinangoh and Kampung Lokos Vunui, involving 144 families, began at 10am yesterday.

He said victims in Kampung Saniton, Kampung Kiambalang, Kampung Botung and Kampung Obon would be delivered by the police and Fire and Rescue Services Department helicopters as land routes were still closed.

However, the aerial aid to the four villages would only be made under permitting weather conditions. – Bernama
