objects in that sector.

The chances of conflict will increase if you carry out a major renovation, such as groundbreaking works, tearing down walls, etc. So refrain from carrying out such activities in 2017, if your house or office faces West.

Incidentally, the Rabbit sits on the opposite side of the Rooster and is also affected by Tai Sui. In ‘feng shui speak’, the Rooster offends the Tai Sui, while the Rabbit clashes with it.

Clashing is worse than offending, and as such, I would strongly urge those born in the Year of the Rabbit to also avoid carrying out any major renovations in 2017, regardless of the facing direction of their house.

Three Killings The Three Killings are the triple combo of Robbery, Disaster and Year Killings, and this year, they influence the NE3, E2, and SE1 sectors, as seen in the pie chart above.

The two sub-sectors in-between the affected sectors – namely E1 and E3 – are the ‘squeezed sectors’ and in practice, we treat them as affected too. Hence, altogether, five sectors spanning 75° are affected in 2017.

Even though the Three Killings affect the East sector, it does not mean that by occupying that sector of the house or office, it will bring about robberies, disasters and/or obstacles. However, you should refrain from carrying out major renovations, as it can activate and greatly increase the chances of such things happening. However, you only need to be extra careful if you are staying in the house during the renovation period. If you are renovating a vacant house, or not living in it during that time, there is no need to worry. You should also avoid major renovations if your house sits facing the East, the direction of the Three Killings. Again, if the property is vacant, this is fine. If you must carry out renovation works, there are ways to circumvent this. Go check with your feng shui practitioner.

The Annual Energies The annual energies or stars are represented by numbers ranging from 1 to 9, as seen in the chart above. They are also denoted by colours. For example, 1 white, 2 black, 3 green, etc.

These annual energies have charactistics which can be positive or negative, depending on the period. For example, 2 black can mean property and wealth luck, or it can mean illness and miscarriages depending on the period.

In the current period, stars 8, 9 and 1 are highly auspicious, while stars 2, 5, and 7 are inauspicious.

The official switch-over date for the annual stars is the beginning of the Chinese solar year or Li Cun (the start of Spring) which falls on Feb 3.

In practice, these energies start transiting in the weeks before.

Some researchers even contend that it starts changing right from the Winter Solstice in late December.
