KUALA LUMPUR: Four suspects, two of them professionals in the oil and gas industry, have been arrested for allegedly being linked to the murder of an Indian national over a RM300,000 debt in Jalan Kasipillay here.

Sentul district police chief ACP R. Munusamy said the suspects, all locals aged between 18 and 33 years, were picked up at different locations not far from the crime scene. He said police are looking for a fifth suspect.

“At 10am on Jan 19, passers-by called Kuala Lumpur Hospital for medical assistance on finding the 42-year-old Indian national in a weak state in Jalan Kasipillay.

“Some 20 minutes later, the man was pronounced dead by doctors. A preliminary post-mortem showed the victim had 51 bruise marks all over his body,” said Munusamy.

He said the victim, identified as Joseph Kishore Gilbert, was working for an oil and gas company.

Acting on a tip-off, police picked up four individuals, two of them employed by the same oil and gas company, on the same day of the murder. The other two suspects are from the medical fraternity.

“Following interrogation, we believe the victim was beaten with wires over a RM300,000 debt,” added Munusamy.

He said police are looking for a 27-yearold suspect.

Police have obtained an order to detain until tomorrow the four suspects arrested under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

In an unrelated case, police have arrested another suspect on Monday to facilitate investigations into a night club brawl in Mont Kiara on Saturday, which resulted in the death of a 22-year-old man.

Munusamy said so far eight suspects have been arrested here and Kajang in the case.

He said police are still looking for the 22-year-old main suspect who stabbed the deceased and four other people to facilitate investigations.

Munusamy said that the deceased had been arrested several times for various offences.

The victim was stabbed in the chest when he and two friends were involved in a fight with a group of men following a slight misunderstanding.
