How not to apply fragrance

-

HOW many wrong ways are there to apply your fragrance? Lots, according to the perfume pros.

The best method to put on your perfume is to first spray it onto the wrists of your hands and then rub it onto the body.

"The important thing is not to rub your wrists together, as this will generate heat and the perfume's top note will evaporate faster," explains Elmar Keldenich from an association of perfumers.

Instead, gently put your wrists together before rubbing them on other parts of the body.

Don't spray perfume directly onto your clothes, firstly as it can create stains. You're better off applying it onto your body, where it will interact with the skin.

And don't forget, hair is also a good spot for perfume.

The best parts of the body to have a fragrance are those with the most blood circulation. "The wrists, throat and neck are ideal," says Keldenich, a German perfume expert.

You should also make sure not to apply perfume in the wrong direction.

Since your fragrance will drift upwards, you should first apply perfumed hands to the lower body, then the upper torso and then to the socalled pulse points, such as behind the knees, elbows and ears.

Finally round off the process by applying some perfume to the neck region.

Keldenich says there is one useful piece of perfume lore to follow: "Wear the perfume everywhere where you would like to be kissed." – dpa
