Cross country run draws 1,000 runners
KUALA LUMPUR: About 1,000 runners turned up for the 32nd annual Go For It! Cross Country Run yesterday morning at the Padang Merbok here.
Participants started the run at about 7.30am and ran up to 10.7km through both natural terrain and tarred roads, offering an enhanced running experience that was not only challenging but also enjoyable.
Sports Toto Malaysia Sdn Bhd communication manager Giam Say Khoon said the event is a corporate social responsibility (CSR) effort to promote a healthy lifestyle.
Giam said Go For It! Cross Country Run was fairly new in the country, adding that response from those who turned up for the run was positive.
“The participants were quite happy because this is something special.
“They got to climb some hills and not just run on tarred roads.
“I hope they will bring more of their friends to join the next time,” he said.
Each participant received an event T-shirt, a mini goodie bag, while the top five in each of the categories won cash prizes totalling RM11,950.
Sports Toto Malaysia Sdn Bhd, which is the event’s primary sponsor, also set up game booths, held quiz sessions, and lucky draws during the event.
Runners took part in nine categories. Among them were Men Senior (aged 18 and above), Men Junior Veteran (aged 40 to 49), Women Senior (aged 18 and above), Men Senior Veteran (aged 50 and above), and Women Veteran (aged 35 and above).
