A step in the right direction
> Bringing Malaysia to the next level in Management and Human Sciences
LINCOLN University College recently hosted over 110 participants from various universities at its first International Conference on Management and Human Sciences 2017. With the theme “Developing the horizons of scientific cooperation among nations and building research capacities among youth and development leaders”, the conference attracted top researchers from countries around the world.
Its organising chairman, Prof Nasser Habtoor praised the research papers presented at the conference and emphasised on the importance of the conference in the development of both education and research sectors.
Meanwhile, Prof Dr Amiya Bhaumik in his capacity as vice chancellor stressed on the importance of the research activities in the development and education of countries, especially Malaysia.
“Lincoln University College is on the right direction in its educational strategy to support and encourage researchers in order to increase the quality of the university. This will lead to better services to the Malaysian society and other targeted communities,” he added.
Guest-of-honour, Prof Dr Saleh Boussara who was the former minister of higher education in Yemen, stressed the importance of establishing such scientific events in light of the scientific competition witnessed by the world today.
“I am truly grateful that the Malaysian government and universities have given Yemeni PhD graduates the opportunity to work at their esteemed universities,” he said.
In addition, he reviewed the stages of the development of higher education in Yemen, where he recommended Yemeni researchers participating in the conference, to contribute towards the academic sector in Malaysia and teenager in Greece, finding his feet and passion before enrolling at the prestigious Mathematics University of Athens – only to quit to pursue his passion for advertising at the University of Florida.
He shared, “I knew from the start that Mathematics was not meant for me in the long run and I eventually decided to follow my passion in advertising. Although it to take Malaysia as a pioneer example in how to achieve peaceful coexistence for development and stability.
“This can be implemented in Yemen in the future,” he said.
Also present were Abubacarr Jah, the ambassador of Islamic Republic of Gambia, and representatives of the embassy of States of Libya, the UAE and Yemen.
The conference was held at the Palace of the Golden Horses under the auspices of Lincoln’s Pro-Chancellor, Datuk Dr Hajar Bibi Florida Abdullah. took me a while to finally break the news to the family, I gathered some confidence and told them. Seeing where I am now, I guess it worked out fine.”
“We are what we do, and if you would like to be a leader, you need to train yourself to become one. No one is a born leader and leadership is not genetically engineered unto you; it needs to be built and earned,” he added.
