IHEANACHO SET FOR FOXES

-

PEP GUARDIOLA’S big Manchester City clear-out continued yesterday with Kelechi Iheanacho ( pix) set to complete a £25m move to Leicester. With flop winger Nolito completing an £8m move to Sevilla and Fernando close to joining Galatasaray for £7m, that will take City’s summer sales income to a whopping £75m. Guardiola has now sold eight players this summer and still wants to cash in on Samir Nasri, Eliaquim Mangala and Wilfried Bony before the transfer window closes. He has also loaned out Joe Hart to West Ham for a £2m fee and freed five players from last season’s first team squad. That has helped finance a freespending summer for Guardiola who has already invested well over £210m in six signings. Leicester beat off interest from Tottenham, West Ham and Monaco to clinch the signing of striker Iheanacho who was deemed surplus to requirements at City. Meanwhile, Nolito signed a three-year deal with Sevilla just 12 months after joining City from Celta Vigo in a £13.8m deal. But his form had been so poor last term that Guardiola was eventually prepared to lose almost £6m on that transfer. Fernando remains in talks with Turkey’s Galatasaray after being told he could leave. The Brazilian midfielder, 30, spent three years at the Etihad but started just one league game last season.

“Actually, at a goal for every 79 minutes he was on the field, he was well ahead of even Harry Kane last season! His current run is even more impressive and suggests very good things lie ahead.”
