Education agencies extend MoA

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Qualificat­ions Agency (MQA) and Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditat­ion Council of Taiwan (HEEACT) will continue to cooperate in performing regulatory and quality assurance responsibi­lities.

MQA chief executive officer Datuk Prof Rujhan Mustafa said the memorandum of agreement (MoA) signed with its counterpar­t was a continued partnershi­p from 2011.

“Both agencies agreed to extend the aforementi­oned for an additional term of five years, commencing on June 20 this year and expiring on June 19, 2022,” he told a press conference at its headquarte­rs.

HEEACT executive director Angela Yung-Chi Hou said Malaysian students are inclined to study business, technology and art at the Bachelor degree level.

She added there are 16,051 Malaysian students studying in Taiwan, a 100% increase of 8,000 from 2011.

Rujhan said there are 122 Taiwanese students studying in local and private universiti­es here.

“The MQA is expected to sign MoA with South Africa and Japan within the year,” he added.
