Education agencies extend MoA
PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan (HEEACT) will continue to cooperate in performing regulatory and quality assurance responsibilities.
MQA chief executive officer Datuk Prof Rujhan Mustafa said the memorandum of agreement (MoA) signed with its counterpart was a continued partnership from 2011.
“Both agencies agreed to extend the aforementioned for an additional term of five years, commencing on June 20 this year and expiring on June 19, 2022,” he told a press conference at its headquarters.
HEEACT executive director Angela Yung-Chi Hou said Malaysian students are inclined to study business, technology and art at the Bachelor degree level.
She added there are 16,051 Malaysian students studying in Taiwan, a 100% increase of 8,000 from 2011.
Rujhan said there are 122 Taiwanese students studying in local and private universities here.
“The MQA is expected to sign MoA with South Africa and Japan within the year,” he added.
