Realising a dream

-

YOUNG people have a vital role to play everywhere, and for Muhammad Farhan Muhammad Rawi, this is especially so in community engagement and volunteer work. Management and Science University (MSU) recently selected the undergraduate to represent Malaysia at the World Youth Congress (WYC) 2017 in Honolulu, Hawaii.

It looks like early steps to a potential future career for the community-engaged MSUrian. A first-year student in Bachelor of Medical Sciences (Honours) programme at the Management and Science University (MSU) International Medical School (IMS), Muhammad Farhan's exposure to community engagement has been extensive.

He has volunteered at a rehabilitation centre for substance abusers. He has had sessions of learning from prominent international and local figures who spoke at the Nation Building School, a youth organisation in Kuala Lumpur. He has also participated in the activities of the Global Shapers Community Kuala Lumpur, a network of socially engaged youth leaders, and in the inaugural Youth Economic Forum in Malaysia.

Experiencing WYC 2017 has stirred Farhan's interest in public service – the experience makes for compelling learning, one that builds his soft skills as he exchanged knowledge and experience, and networked with youth leaders from all over the world.

The support for Muhammad Farhan is characteristic of the Management and Science University (MSU) Global Leadership Programme (GLP). Along with the Global Mobility Programme (GMP) and Global Internship Programme (GIP), it is an investment in impacting lives.

MSU is one of Malaysia's top universities, with a focus on developing and delivering quality human capital in national and global critical areas; among them, Medicine, Health Sciences, Pharmacy, Information Sciences, and Engineering, besides Business Management & Professional Studies, Education & Social Sciences, Hospitality & Culinary, and Music & Fashion.

MSU was accorded "Excellent Status University" twice on the national university-rating system SETARA and The Most Entrepreneurial Private University 2016 by the Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. It was also awarded the BrandLaureate Best Brand in Education for Leadership and Human Capital Development 2017.

In an international rating exercise undertaken by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), MSU received Five Star ratings for Teaching, Employability, Facilities, Social Responsibility and Inclusiveness.

As an applied and enterprise university, MSU offers programmes of study at postgraduate, undergraduate, and foundation levels, through connected pathways that admit students from all walks of life and personal backgrounds.
