> Berjaya Hotels & Resorts’ latest hotel concept chain offers guests a living room that can transform into a bedroom that sleeps four

-

BERJAYA HOTELS & Resorts (BHR) recently announced the launch of thelivingroom, a new concept hotel chain that focuses on space maximisation.

Whether guests are travelling solo or with up to three other travelling companions, thelivingroom hotel will ease their hassle of choosing the right room type from the moment they book their stay.

In thelivingroom hotel, there is only one room type – a living room which can be transformed into a bedroom that can accommodate up to a maximum of four persons at any one time.

This is done using a transforming wall bed which, when not in use, can be folded up into a simple shelving unit as well as a work table to maximise floor space.

This instantly transforms the bedroom into a living room ( above, right).

To accommodate additional guests, the housekeeping staff can lift the cushions off the sofa, and the bottom part of the sofa will move to the top – transforming it into a bunk bed for two adults ( below).

There is also a unique adjustable lighting fixture in the room which allows guests to re-position the ceiling lights to wherever it is needed.

There is also a designer foldable chair that can be folded when not in use or needed, and stored away in the room itself or out of the room.

Emphasising on space maximisation, the ground floor of thelivingroom hotel is set to include a reception-cum-café, which will function as both check-in counter and F&B outlet.

With a 24-hour turnaround time, thelivingroom hotel guests have the flexibility of checking in and out at any time of the day.

Berjaya Hotels & Resorts CEO Hanley Chew said: “As a hotel brand that is specifically designed to meet the needs of corporate travellers with families, this is extremely important as their needs today are very much different.

“They are not looking for luxurious offerings, but practicality, convenience and flexibility in their hotel stays.

“By offering one unique room type, we believe thelivingroom hotel will appeal to these travellers who embrace minimalist living and work-life balance.”

There are currently two thelivingroom hotels mapped out for completion in 2018 in Malaysia, with another five to be launched in the next three years.
