‘Kop in good place due to Klopp’

-

IAN WRIGHT fears the atmosphere will deteriorate again at former club Arsenal if they lose at Liverpool.

The Gunners travel to Anfield on Sunday for their Premier League clash. And following last weekend’s surprise 1-0 defeat at Stoke, the pressure is back on Arsene Wenger.

The manager led Arsenal to FA Cup glory in May, which helped to appease frustrated fans as he penned a new two-year deal.

But with Alexis Sanchez looking to leave and Arsenal facing another slow start, Wright has concerns.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have had their own problems surrounding Philippe Coutinho and incomings this summer.

However, fans are behind manager Jurgen Klopp, and Wright feels that sets the clubs apart at present.

“It’s hard to judge until the window finishes, but as it stands, Liverpool are in a better place for me,” Wright said on Sky Sports’ The Debate.

“One of the main reasons is this: playing football at a big club is hard enough, and when the crowd is with you, loving the manager like they do at Liverpool, you get the spring in your step when you go out onto the pitch.

“I’m not sure Arsenal fans have been turned enough by that FA Cup win last season, I don’t think they’ve turned completely and are saying: ‘We forgive you, we forgive you!’

“They’re waiting, and now they’ve lost at Stoke, if they go to Liverpool and get turned over, does it all start again (the pressure) at the next home game?” – Express Newspapers
