THERE is something warm and welcoming about seeing a fullydecorated Christmas tree in a home, with presents under the tree.

Whether you celebrate Christmas or not, there’s something mesmerising about these holiday decorations and ornaments.

Now that Metrojaya’s thematic Trim Shoppe is open for the festive season, there’s even more to amaze the senses with its wide range of items on offer.

Not only will you be able to find the perfect tree, there is also a wide range of colours and accents in the decorations to go with the theme you have in mind.

You can even experiment a little to create a truly unique Christmas tree that best suits your home and personality.

This year, Metrojaya’s Trim Shoppe offers six different decorative themes for the Christmas tree.

They include the nautical themed Deck the Shores in blue hues with ornaments shaped like starfish, mermaids, sandcastles, and fish nets; the Vintage Romance with its antique Victorian-styled trims in blue and silver, including vintage car ornaments; and the Gatsby Glitz, a retro look with decorations in gold and silver foil as well as opulent-looking sequined ornaments .

Go traditional with the Splendour of Christmas filled with large coloured lights, vintage ornaments with silver tinsel and an angel on top, or the Whimsical Yuletide – a woodsy tree with pine cones, poinsettia, and garlands of hanging ornaments featuring Santa and his reindeer.

You can also opt for Wintery Elegance, where the tree looks as if it is covered in a thin film of snow on its branches, with elegant muted gold decorations to offset the white.

To help spruce up your home, check out the wide variety of tableware and home decor from Laura Ashley and Living Quarters.

MJ Department Stores marketing manager Diana Roslam said Metrojaya decided to feature only six themes this year instead of the whopping 11 it presented last year due to feedback from its sales team as well as customers.

“[People] were confused by too many choices previously,” she explained. “Some were also similar to each other, for example, there were two nautical-themed trees last year.”

If you want to buy a tree as a gift to your loved ones back in your hometown, Diana assured that the trees can be wrapped and delivered anywhere in the country, direct to the doorstep.

“This also includes the elegant garlands hanging from the ceiling that are really eye-catching.”

Diana added that not everyone is looking for a new tree. “We also have customers who have an old Christmas tree and only want something new to complement it.”

Right now, the fastest movers are the nautical-themed decorations, along with wooden signages and cars.

“You can’t find ornaments like this anywhere else,” said Diana who personally likes the nautical-themed decorations.

She revealed that the company buyers for Metrojaya’s Trim Shoppe actually start planning for that year’s Christmas season at the start of the year itself.

“They will be sourcing the decorations from all over the world. Some [of these decorations] are inspired by movies and current trends.”

Not everyone, however, is shopping for Christmas.

Diana reports that the store has many Malay shoppers who like to purchase the ornaments, decorations and trays, saying that they are perfect as wedding gifts or ‘hantaran’.
