Baby Shark in Malay now on Astro
ASTRO has teamed up with Pinkfong, a subsidiary of South Korean child education company SmartStudy, to present Bayi Yu, the Malay version of the popular Baby Shark song.
The recent launch in Kuala Lumpur saw a huge turnout of parents and young children eager to catch a glimpse of the Pinkfong mascot ( below) perform both the Baby Shark and Bayi Yu songs, as the tiny tots mimicked the popular dance moves.
Pinkfong has 3,000 tunes and stories for children but the catchy Baby Shark singalong video has resonated beyond its intended target audience.
SmartStudy co-founder Ryan Lee Seungkyu said at the launch: “We are really expecting more great hits coming up soon. With the Bayi Yu song … we look forward to working closely with Astro to deliver the 360° experience with engaging content and merchandise for the whole family to enjoy.”
There are 70 songs from Pinkfong’s wide repertoire, including the Baby Shark song series, that are currently available on Astro Best and On Demand.
Malaysians can also expect Pinkfong videos On Demand in Mandarin, covering mathematics, moral fables, and Chinese proverbs from Astro, which will also serve as a platform for exclusive merchandise like Pinkfong plush toys and sound books through the broadcaster’s Go Shop.
Astro Content Group vice president Agnes Rozario said: “Astro is constantly looking to delight our customers and the partnership with Pinkfong shows our commitment to offering consumers with more choices in edutainment.”
Pinkfong Kid’s singalong is available on Astro channel 481 for RM10 with a five-day viewing period, inclusive of other Astro videos, and can be connected to the PVR to download on demand.
To win special Pinkfong merchandise, upload a video of you and your children doing the Baby Shark dance on Instagram or Facebook with the hashtags #BayiYu, #BabyShark, #SchoolsOut, #BabySharkDanceWithAstro, and tag @astrocircle, after setting your profile to public.
