DNA samples collected from chair
> Cops have questioned 31 occupants so far
KUALA LUMPUR: Forensic police have collected DNA samples from the chair that struck 14-year-old S. Satiswaran, killing him instantly after it was flung from an apartment unit at a low-cost flat in Pantai Dalam on Monday.
City police chief Commissioner Datuk Mazlan Mansor said yesterday police have so far questioned 31 occupants of the flats.
“Those questioned comprised occupants from the flats and witnesses during the incident. Of the 31 people questioned, statements from five individuals will be analysed thoroughly,” he said, adding that no arrest has been made.
He said the deceased was brought to the University Malaya Medical Centre for post-mortem, but the results are not available yet.
Mazlan added the case has been classified as murder, with the culprit behind the incident facing the mandatory death sentence.
“Police hope that the public will cooperate with the investigation and not speculate, as this would jeopardise the probe.
“We urge anyone with information that can help in the case to contact investigative officers ASP Firdaus Sharil at 012338 8164 or 03-905 16222, or DSP Tonny Lunggan from the Brickfields district police headquarters at 014-622 5262.”
The victim, a Form Three student of SMK La Salle in Petaling Jaya, was accompanying his mother, 45, who had just finished grocery shopping.
When they were about to enter their apartment block at about 8.30pm, an office chair believed to have been thrown from one of the upper floors, crashed on him.
