Felda told to take action against negligent parties
KUALA LUMPUR: Felda has been instructed to take disciplinary and legal action against those those who were negligent in safeguarding its interests and its investment wing, Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FIC).
In a statement, the Prime Minister’s Department said the forensics audit report conducted on the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) project showed there was non-compliance with procurement procedures and negligence in safeguarding Felda’s interests, Bernama reported.
An audit firm appointed to conduct a forensics audit on the project had submitted a final report to the Prime Minister’s Department on Feb 2.
The report was then tabled to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak, as the minister responsible for Felda, on Monday.
“The prime minister agreed that a consultative committee be set up to review the agreement between FIC with Synergy Promenade (SP), and Synergy Promenade KLVC.”
Meanwhile, PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli yesterday alleged that the Felda land in Jalan Semarak, which is embroiled in controversy over its questionable transfer, is still owned by SP, contrary to what Felda announced last month.
At a press conference, he presented copies of grants of the 16 lots involved, that indicated the land was still owned by the private company.
In an immediate response, Felda chairman Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad said the land in question could not presently be transferred to Felda as they are registered under the registrar’s caveat.
He said the land ownership on the grants could only be placed under Felda again once the registrar’s caveat has been removed.
Shahrir added the land in question was put under the registrar’s caveat on Dec 26 last year following a police report lodged by Felda.
“The registrar’s caveat imposed on the plots of land does not allow for any dealings to be made on the land.
“This means that Felda’s interest as the original owner is preserved.”
