Shock win against MU could spark Huddersfield revival

-

TOM INCE says Huddersfield’s FA Cup date with Manchester United could spark their fierce scrap with relegation.

Terriers winger Ince scored and shone in the 4-1 win over Birmingham to clinch a fifth-round tie with the club where his father made his name.

Former England star Paul has two FA Cup winner’s medals from his time at Old Trafford.

Now Ince Junior hopes Huddersfield’s Cup success can prove the catalyst to halting their slide down the Premier League table.

Ince, 26, said: “Credit to the players – the fitness, the desire and determination shone through. We had to get the losing streak off our back. It doesn’t matter what competition you are in, a winning feeling is a great feeling. To have that going into the next block of games is important

“It is coming into the business end of the season now. There will be a lot of pressure and expectation. We have to handle that. Nights like Birmingham can help us take us in the right direction for the next block of games.”

Just three points from the last 24 in an eight-match winless streak without a win has plunged David Wagner’s men into the bottom three.

Ince added: “Sunday’s home match with Bournemouth is massive for us and now we focus on that. If we hadn’t won in the FA Cup, the losing streak would have continued.

“A win changes the whole mood of the changing room, in terms of morale and belief. It was a good night. The league and cup can go together. It is great to have a Cup run. The experience of having Manchester United at home will be great and I am sure the stadium will be rocking.”

Huddersfield pulled off a shocker with a 2-1 win over Jose Mourinho’s men back in October. But their poor league form continued when they lost 2-0 at Old Trafford only last week.
