Police probing Namewee’s CNY video
KUALA LUMPUR: InspectorGeneral of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said an investigation paper has been opened on rapper Namewee’s ( pix) video clip which allegedly rode roughshod on the sensitivities of the multi-racial society in the country.
He said the police is working with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to investigate the controversial video clip under Section 298 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
He said this after launching the Police Heritage Trust Fund Appeal Motorcycling Tour Programme in conjunction with the 211th Police Day at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) yesterday.
Last week, Namewee uploaded his latest video clip for Chinese New Year titled Like A Dog featuring a group of individuals wearing dog masks allegedly containing vulgar dance moves near the Putra Perdana Building which houses the Prime Minister’s Office in Putrajaya.
On the three-day motorcycle trip, he said it involves a 1,103 km journey with more than 50 officers and personnel on highpowered motorcycles from Pulapol to Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Pahang, Perak and Negri Sembilan.
“This is a PDRM initiative to raise funds to help retirees and their family members,” he added. – Bernama
