Berjaya Sompo launches innovative medical plan

-

BERJAYA Sompo Insurance Berhad (Berjaya Sompo) launched Sompo Health Hospitalisation & Surgical Insurance, a first-of-its-kind plan that offers medical coverage for surgical implants of pacemakers and defibrillators.

The plan is competitively priced from RM362 per annum and offers an overall annual limit ranging from RM50,000 to RM500,000. With the global escalating costs of medical treatment today, Malaysians from all walks of life, of all ages, as young as a 30-day-old right up to a 100-year-old, can apply for the policy.

There are no lifetime limits, renewal is guaranteed up to 100 years of age, and there is a deductible option with premium discount, among other advantages.

“Many typical plans in the market impose a lifetime limit, which means that individuals who make claims may not be able to renew their policies and have to pay a higher premium or be restricted in coverage,” said Berjaya Sompo’s chief distribution officer Stuart Chia ( pix).

“As our population ages, it makes sense to offer a plan that is able to ease the financial burdens of families, especially as they grow older. The guaranteed longer coverage and no lifetime limit offered in this plan will provide better peace of mind,” Chia added.

Another point to note is that the plan offers coverage for surgical implants of pacemakers and defibrillators with reimbursements ranging between RM10,000 and RM50,000.

“Pacemakers have become a common form of treatment for people who suffer from heart diseases. We want to help make it easier for these patients to receive the treatment they need to achieve better quality of life,” said Chia.

Individuals, who already have existing medical insurance coverage from their employers can opt to top up their existing policy while enjoying discounts. Some of the benefits include: full reimbursement for outpatient cancer and kidney dialysis treatment (up to annual limit); intensive care unit, operating theatre and hospital services and supplies charges, including various professional fees and services, such as pre-hospital diagnostic tests and specialist consultation, surgeon and anaesthesist fees and posthospitalisation treatment tabs; outpatient/extended benefits that include full reimbursement for emergency accidental outpatient and dental treatments, as well as organ transplants and outpatient physiotherapy/chiropractic treatment, up to RM6,000 for home nursing care (up to 180 days) and bereavement allowances of up to RM5,000.

Berjaya Sompo CEO Tan Sek Kee said by having an equitable and competitively priced health insurance plan, Malaysians, from newborns to citizens in their golden years, will be able to enjoy better healthcare service.
