TECHNOLOGY is getting more sophisticated by the day, giving birth to a robust, fast-paced and everchanging digital era in which people across the world are hooked on to online platforms via their phones, tablets or even phablets. Being engaged via gadgets has become such a necessity in society across both working and personal environments, so much so the demand for digital content and digital experience has peaked tremendously.

According to reports by the Malaysian Digital Association (MDA), the estimated digital revenue (including social media advertising and other forms of advertising) in Malaysia for 2017 amounted to RM1.5 billion. In 2020, revenue through digital advertising on mobile alone is expected to generate RM716.63 million.

This entails to digital advertising becoming part and parcel of our everyday life. It has become one of the tools in marketing and has weaved its way into every day lives of both the marketer and consumer already.

Over the years, with the development of technology and methods of communication, advertising has become increasingly personalised and creative.

However, generating original award-winning ideas is getting a lot more challenging and it is these ideas that are the root of a great advertising campaign.

Although it’s been said that everything that could have been said or done has already been said and done, the key to keep ideas fresh is to stay connected to target audiences and learn to understand them like the back of our hands.

As important is to know how they respond to different communication messages and various communication channels.

At The One Academy, the Advertising and Graphic Design syllabus is curated as such, to ensure students are continuously exposed to great advertising that they may study its characteristics, understand the creative process and stay inspired. Recognising and considering the demands of the digital field is the academy’s Diploma in Multimedia and BA (Hons) Digital Media Design.

As part of its “Masters Train Masters” coaching philosophy, The One Academy collaborates with the world’s best multi-award winning advertising agencies and engages with its executive creative directors to share their knowledge and engage with its students.

These include Thomas Kim, executive creative director of Korea’s Cheil Worldwide, ranked No. 8 according to the Directory Big Won Rankings; Tan Chee Keong, Asia’s No. 7 in Top 20 Most Awarded Creative Directors in Asia who is also a graduate of The One Academy; Gigi Lee, Y&R Malaysia’s award-winning executive creative director; and Alvin Teoh, NagaDDB’s highly decorated executive creative director, and more.

Sharing sessions and workshops provide students opportunities to engage and interact with these industrial experts besides deepening their understanding for the craft of digital advertising among a host of other valuable insights about the art and skill.

These opportunities help students get familiar with the realities of the creative world.

The One Academy is committed to providing the best art education through diploma and degree courses, offering Interior Architecture and Design, Advertising and Graphic Design, Digital Animation with Game Development, Film Visual Effects, Multimedia Design with Digital Media & Interactive Design, Illustration, Movie & Game Art, ESMOD Fashion Design & Pattern Making and Fine Arts programmes.
