Grab launches varsity students programme

PETALING JAYA: E-hailing service provider Grab Malaysia has launched a new programme that caters specifically to students from higher education institutions.

Grab Malaysia country head Sean Goh said the new programme, Grabvarsity, is a first-of-its-kind tertiary student engagement programme that would meet the transportation needs of students.

“Not only will the programme be able to ease the lives of tertiary students via various lifestyle benefits and rewards, the programme also offers real-life work experience to the students through one of the programme’s four pillars – apprenticeship placement.

“Through this apprenticeship, students are given first-hand learning opportunities at Grab Malaysia where they can work and learn from the best while developing their professional skills,” Goh said at the launch of the programme yesterday.

Apart from that, Goh said Grabvarsity also comes with a reward programme exclusively for university students.

“Grabvarsity also provides the opportunity for students to participate in a special short term students-only Grab driver programme, in which they can earn supplementary income to help cover their education fees or student loans.

“However, the short term programme is only open to local students while the rewards and apprenticeship programme is open to everyone,” Goh said.

Also present at the launch was Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Dr Mary Yap, who represented Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh. – by Adrian Phung
