IN celebrating International Women’s Day 2018, Maybank Foundation launched a special art exhibition.

Open to the public and held at Balai Seni Maybank, the exhibition titled “RRRWARRR!!!: Maybank’s Emerging Women Artists Show 2018”, showcases the talents of 31 women artists across a variety of art mediums and approaches. Each work of art touches on a different subject matter, ranging from personal experiences to refreshing takes on the realities of everyday life.

All works are on sale, with 20% of proceeds going to the Women’s Aid Organisation (WAO).

At the launch of the exhibition on March 9, Maybank Foundation CEO Shahril Azuar Jimin said, “This inaugural event of the Balai Seni Art Series aims to position the gallery as a new and exciting contemporary art platform to support and highlight works by selected women artists from the growing number of women art practitioners in the local art scene today.

“Recognising its importance for future generations, we have involved ourselves in preserving and encouraging the sustainability of our arts and culture, not just in Malaysia but also regionally.

Our very own Balai Seni Maybank here has featured the works of many of the country’s foremost artists, and we hope to provide the same opportunities to more young emerging talents regionally.”

“RRRWARRR!!!” runs until March 23 and is showcased at Balai Seni Maybank located on the first floor of Menara Maybank. Opening hours are from 10am to 5pm daily.
