Destination paradise

- BY JASON LIM

A NAME that stands for luxury, quality and heritage, Carolina Herrera’s Spring/ Summer ‘18 collection draws inspiration from three major travel destinations around the globe.

PRE-SPRING COLLECTION

In the Pre-Spring Collection, Herrera takes us through the city that never sleeps – Manhattan New York. Moving between the concrete jungle of Upper East Side and Brooklyn Bridge, where great industrial constructions are seen as independent identity, and so is the woman of the 50s.

The collection translated these sculptural architectures with emphasis on Khaki Green, Ivory, Light Blue and Navy colours into feminine pieces, oversized shirts, featuring the brand’s signature bow, and utility garments.

EVENING COLLECTION

Lying in the Caribbean archipelago is Mustique Island – endless palm trees that lined up along white-sand beaches guarded by coral reefs inspires the American fashion house’s latest evening collection.

The enchanted island is brought to life through dramatic ruffles in feminine silhouettes painted with hibiscus flowers and characteristic polka dots prints. The paradise island is further enhanced with summer hues where the iconic Carolina Red plays the lead, while Bougainville, Blue Jasmine and Ivy Green accents appear in draped and pure lines.

SPRING COLLECTION

Up next we found ourselves in Maine, known for its famous harbours surrounded by rocky coastlines and picturesque waterways. The maritime atmosphere can be seen evidently in striped prints combined with iconic “White Shirts”. While the designs reflect perfect relaxation and serenity through the use of subtle and gauzy fabrics together with caftans in playful metallic appliques. The collection also discovers the renowned Japanese gardens at Asticou Azalea prompted the addition of handmade prints in soft and light fabrics.

?? ?? (From left) Sculptural yet feminine pieces inspired by the energy and rhythm of Manhattan; recognisably striped prints truly savour Maine’s spirit; and floral blooms on evening gowns exude Mustique Island’s ambience.
