Presenting a choice of two buffets

-

FOR the coming month of Ramadan, Sheraton Petaling Jaya will be serving up two themed buffets for guests at the hotel's all-day dining Feast restaurant, and at the ballroom.

According to executive chef Tan Tik San, Feast which is located on the third floor lobby area will be serving up a Citarasa Malaysia buffet spread that has both Malaysian as well as Western favourites, while the ballroom's theme will be Arabian Nights and the buffet there will be laying out Middle Eastern inspired dishes.

Malay banquet chef Mohd Nor Haslan, who oversees both buffets, said that there are seven menus on rotation for Citarasa Malaysia and four menus on rotation for Arabian Nights.

Nor Haslan who was born in Selangor, but grew up in Kelantan, said that the buffet spread at Feast during Ramadan will encompass local favourites that are generally enjoyed by everyone.

Nor Haslan added: "I was based in Saudi Arabia for a year. I was working in a hotel owned by an international chain. There is where I learnt how to cook Middle Eastern cuisine."

At Feast, diners can look out for dishes such as siput sedut masak lemak cili api, udang masak daun limau purut, ayam percik Kelantan, pecal ikan anak teruna, lemang, ketupat, serunding, a variety of pickles and condiments, as well as sambal.

There is also a station serving up roast meats and an action station preparing satay, tempura, noodles, and even a lok lok stall.

Make room for dessert too, as they have ice-creams, pudding, cakes, a variety of pengat (sweet porridges), kuih, and delicious durian crepes that are made fresh upon order.

For the Arabian Nights buffet there are cold appetizers such as tabbouleh, Arabic salad with tuna, falafel, a variety of breads and condiments, lamb tagine and cous cous, kebabs, lentil soup, roast whole lamb with saffron rice and vegetables, and deserts such as umm Ali and date halwa.

It will cost you RM88 nett for the Arabian Nights Dinner buffet, and RM118 nett for Citarasa Malaysia at Feast. Children aged between five to 11 years get a 50% discount off the normal price.
