KOTA KINABALU: Upholding Sabah’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 are among the priorities of the Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) state government, said Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

The Warisan president said this had been clearly stated in the party’s manifesto, and should therefore be respected by the federal government, Bernama reported.

“We need to be respected, heard and to know Sabah’s rights. Everything in the agreement should not only be fulfilled, but also executed well,” he said after the opening look out for the couple.

However, the couple failed to show up at the airport after the Immigration Department placed Najib and his wife under a blacklist that barred them from leaving the country. of the 5th FCASS International Dragon Boat Race by the Yang Dipertua Negri of Sabah, Tun Juhar Mahiruddin in Teluk Likas yesterday.

Mohd Shafie said fulfilling the rights of the Sabah people would strengthen unity among Malaysians.

“It is not only respect for one another. Fulfilling the rights provides the ingredient, which Malaysians in Sabah have been waiting for more than 50 years, to make it work.”

Shafie said everyone in Sabah had the right to enjoy the benefits of development, instead of just certain towns such as Kota Kinabalu.

Rural areas such as Kunak, Pensiangan and Sipitang still need development, he added.

However, he said developing rural areas would take time as it cannot be done in one or two years.

He expressed confidence that with the cooperation of all quarters, including the state and federal governments, and willingness to ensure balanced development, Sabah would not be left behind.

On the new state Cabinet, Shafie said the list, which includes the creation of two new ministries, had been submitted to Juhar.

He said the line-up would reflect cooperation between Warisan and Pakatan Harapan.

On the participation of Warisan in the federal Cabinet, Mohd Shafie said he had submitted a few names to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for consideration.
