PH receives flak over Rafizi’s comments
announcements made by Mahathir,” said an insider.
Subang MP Wong Chen also clarified that Rafizi merely did not want to see Mahathir’s government start off on the wrong foot, and as such, voiced his opinion.
“It is not fair for us to jump to conclusions. We must stand up and speak up if we are unhappy about something,” he said.
Another party insider said Mahathir was not bulldozing through anything, as alleged by certain online news portals.
“Using the word ‘bulldoze’ is too strong. Obviously Mahathir did speak to Deputy Prime Minister Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and other leaders regarding the appointments.
“He (Mahathir) did not make the decisions on his own,” said the insider.
Rafizi’s statement came soon after Mahathir had announced DAP secretarygeneral Lim Guan Eng as finance minister, PPBM president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as home affairs minister and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu as defence minister.
Mahathir had also announced the formation of a Team of Eminent Persons to oversee the government administration and decision-making process.
“Please be patient and do not draw conclusions so fast. The new government has just been elected and we are committed to fulfilling all that we have promised. There are bound to be some teething problems, but that does not mean there is infighting. We are aware that the eyes of the entire nation are upon us,” said the insider.
The party insider claimed that Rafizi has been advised to refrain from using the media as a platform to voice his grievances, but to do so through PH’s available channels.
“We have our channels where anyone can voice his views behind closed doors.”
