22 receive IBDP scholarships
ST JOSEPH’S Institution International School Malaysia (SJIIM) presented its second batch of students with International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) scholarships. Twenty-two students were presented with SJIIM’s coveted IBDP Scholarship Award Certificate at a special ceremony.
Present at the event were SJIIM’s board of governors, principals, invited guests, teachers, parents and students, as well as Malaysian Federation of Lasallian Alumni Associations executive committee members.
Malaysian Federation of Lasallian Alumni Associations president Michael Simon mentioned that the SJIIM IBDP scholarships are much sought after. It also comes with school fee waivers of between 30% and 100% for students who meet the requirements.
“Developing the talent that we have and making greater investments will contribute to generating the development of our future leaders. Education and capacity building to generate new talent with the right skills, mindsets and values, as well as effective talent development strategies and their implementation, have now become key priorities of the nation,” said Simon, congratulating the scholarship recipients and challenging them to contribute to their alma mater in return.
Simon also pointed out that the scholarships were a large cost for such a young school like SJIIM but alternatively commented that deserving candidates will undoubtedly give the world lasting hope for the future.
The two-year SJIIM IBDP scholarship programme is a unique merit-based outreach initiative that is offered to applicants who can prove their academic excellence besides demonstrating active participation and leadership qualities in service and co-curricular activities.
