Love is a factor

-

HOW long can a human being survive without food and drink? How long can one survive without love?

There are sad accounts of children who died not due to lack of nourishment, but because of lack of love. What has happened to mankind, which does not seem to value love as a prime factor for living a full life?

Most people only do what they believe. If we believe in money, we will use all our effort and resources to make money. If we believe in attitude, we will ensure that our attitude towards ourselves and others is correct, courteous and pleasant.

Then, why do most people consider physical love to be the means to an end? What about loving our family, the community, our society and all within this world?

And more importantly, why are people limiting themselves to loving only a few family members?

A young man, after finishing his seven day meditation course was asked by his teacher to bring along his family when he comes the next time. His reply: “I am a bachelor, I don’t have a family.” My thought is: “Aren’t your parents and siblings your family?”

The answer is simple. Many of us have forgotten that we are beings in a human form. We are totally unaware of the fact that we are souls in physical bodies who live with other souls in their physical bodies. When we forget this, we forget our innate nature of love.

If we can base our belief system on our original qualities of love and peace, we can learn to recognise the world as our family. How enlightened our whole life will be!
