-

KLANG: The new Selangor state government executive council unveiled yesterday saw the introduction of seven new faces into the 10-member exco.

The new line-up saw DAP’s Datuk Teng Chang Kim and V. Ganabatirau as well as PKR’s Amiruddin Shari as the only excos from the previous government to retain their positions in the state’s administrative council.

The seven new faces comprised three from PKR, two from Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) and one each from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) and DAP.

They were Haniza Mohamed Talha, Dr Shaharuddin Badaruddin and Hee Loy Sian from PKR, Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud and Izham Hashim from Amanah, Datuk Abdul Rashid Asari from PPBM and Ng Sze Han from DAP.

Pakatan Harapan (PH) representatives from the previous government who were not reappointed were Elizabeth Wong, Dr Daroyah Alwi, Ean Yong Hian Wah and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

All of them were re-elected into the state assembly in GE14, with the exception for Nik Nazmi who had vacated his Seri Setia state seat for Setiawangsa parliamentary seat.

The ceremony at the palace’s Balairung Seri was also attended by Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. Also present was Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

No portfolios have been assigned yet to the excos at press time.

Meanwhile, Mohamed Azmin attributed the excellent performance of Selangor’s civil service as among the factors contributing to PH’s success in getting the mandate again to administer the state.

Speaking at a breakfast session with about 100 state civil servants at the lobby of the State Secretary building yesterday, he said the excellent performance and high integrity displayed by the state’s civil service in the previous term had not only fulfilled the people’s aspirations but also reinforced their confidence and helped boost Selangor’s performance to become a good example of a developed state.

“In my campaign nationwide, I talked about the success achieved by Selangor which was undeniably contributed by the state civil servants.

“When it was announced that PH had won 51 out of 56 seats, I was surprised ... it is actually a clear proof of the people’s confidence in our honest and sincere service all this while.”
