Vivid Sydney 2018 to light up from May 25
THERE is less than two weeks to go before the 23-day Vivid Sydney 2018 festival takes over this Australian city.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the festival will transform the city into a colourful canvas from May 25 to June 16.
Vivid Sydney 2018 will feature an expanded footprint, spectacular tributes to Australian and New South Wales artists and global creative innovators, as well as imposing large-scale light installations and building façade projections.
Exciting new additions include Luna Park as a new precinct, and the return of a crowd-favourite, Customs House.
Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said: “In two weeks from now, Sydney will be illuminated by our spectacular festival of light, music and ideas, as locals and visitors from around the world join us to celebrate Vivid Sydney’s 10th anniversary.
“Now is the perfect time for visitors to start planning their trip, and I encourage everyone to take some time to explore several precincts over different nights to enjoy all that’s on offer across the festival’s programme.” Highlights include: Vivid Ideas World-renowned filmmaker James Cameron and Dare Jennings, founder of surf-culture icon Mambo clothing and custom motorcycle brand, Deus ex Machina will headline #VividIdeas.
Vivid Music Ice Cube will be the first rapper to perform in Sydney Opera House’s Concert Hall during #VividLIVE! Expect all the classics from Check Yo Self to Straight Outta Compton. This will be his only Australian shows.
Vivid Music Fugazi frontman Guy Picciotto is presenting a screening of the band’s definitive documentary Instrument, followed by an inconversation Q&A.
Vivid Light Crowd favourite Customs House will return to #VividSydney with May Gibbs’ much-loved Snugglepot and Cuddlepie characters brought to life to celebrate 100 years of the Australian children’s classic.
