Ride-sharing driver found dead in vehicle
KUALA LUMPUR: A ride-sharing driver was found dead in his vehicle at a parking spot in Taman Selayang Makmur, Selayang on Saturday night.
The 27-year-old victim, who was from Negri Sembilan, was reportedly a hardworking and top-performing driver who was appreciated by his passengers based on their feedback.
He was found in the back seat of the car in a bizarre inverted position, with his head on the floor and his legs upright.
Gombak district deputy police chief Supt Tey Kong Seng said the body was found at 8.20pm by a police motorcycle patrol unit after it responded to an alert by the victim’s stepfather to check on his vehicle.
“A medical team from the Selayang Hospital dispatched to the scene confirmed that the man had died,” he said.
Police found blister marks on the victim’s neck. They also recovered two mobile phones, a pair of shoes and socks, a pair of slippers and a shirt in the car.
The body was sent to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for a post-mortem.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Meanwhile, Grab Malaysia said they are working closely with the authorities and added that driver-partner safety remained a priority.
