KUALA LUMPUR: A woman, who was saving up for her mother’s cancer treatment, ended up losing all the money to a sweettalking former employer.

The 24-year-old victim, who wanted to be known as “Leong”, claimed she was hypnotised ( pukau) by her former boss into loaning her the money.

Leong was hired in April as a clerk for a furniture business in Semenyih, Kajang.

She claimed that her then boss, a 35-year-old woman, had persuaded Leong to lend her RM56,000.

MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong said Leong gave the money via three transactions.

“The suspect disappeared on April 29 after getting the money,” Chong told reporters at the department headquarters yesterday.

Chong said Leong had lodged a police report on May 17.

Leong also later learned that her other two colleagues had been duped as well.

Chong urged those with information to lodge a report with the bureau or the police.

Leong’s efforts to contact the suspect has been futile.
