Making dreams come true

> Having a good arrangement and sense of design in our personal space – such as our bedroom – can help us realise all our desires

-

IArt of vaastu & feng shui N THE science of feng shui, the bedroom is a very important area of the home. It is said to be the place in which occupants spend long hours, and the place where all our personal desires and aspirations take shape.

That is why the location of the bedroom, as well as its décor and furniture arrangement, exert a major influence on the occupants, and can either aid or hinder their desires.

Therefore, a good bedroom design and décor will not just support the occupants of the room, but also speed up the process of realising their dreams and desires.

If you are feeling stuck in a rut, or are seeing no progress either in your career, relationship or marriage prospects, then it’s time to check your personal space – your bedroom.

First, explore the possibility of redecorating the room.

The process of redecorating primarily cleans up your space and makes it free of clutter, brings in new life, and creates an aura of positivity and a right frame of mind.

This enables you to not only realise your dreams, but gives you a clear insight as well as a clear head to make sensible decisions.

A bedroom decorated based on feng shui principles shows a balanced décor that promotes the best flow of energy for restorative sleep, as well as a healing of body, mind and soul.

The best feng shui colours for the bedroom are the so-called ‘skin colours’, which range from pale white, to a rich chocolate brown.

Choosing colours within this range will work best for your bedroom décor. Using brighter shades on specific walls to accentuate them is not a bad idea; however, ensure that all the other walls in the room are in neutral shades.

Adding darker, earth tone accents for contrast as well as an ‘autumn’ feel to the space to suit the season, is also acceptable in feng shui.

Colour combinations such as blue with chocolate brown, or green with deep maroon or dark beige, are two bedroom decorating ideas that create a sense of colour balance.

Newlyweds and those seeking a suitable life partner can create a sense of balance in the bedroom, and equality in their relationships, by placing nightstands with matching table lamps on each side of the bed.

Items in twos are considered good feng shui practice, but don’t overdo it.

To have a happy married life and a balanced relationship, check on the following aspects of your bedroom arrangement and décor:

Do not place anything under the pillow, and ensure there are no heavy metal decorations close to the head of the bed.

Beds with built-in drawers for storage are not recommended in feng shui.

The bed should have a good headboard and a supporting wall behind it.

The bed should also be accessible from either side.

Avoid bedrooms with a sloping ceiling.

Do not have a chandelier above the bed, or anything which is suspended from the ceiling, right above the bed. This includes a ceiling fan, which should be slightly away from the upper torso of the person lying on the bed.

And do not sleep directly under the window.
